Location: Located 8 km northwest of the Saray District; it lies on the northern skirt of the Yanosman Hill on the bank of the Ayvacik (Ergene) Creek. It can be reached from the Kavacik Village; which is off the road at 5th km of the Saray-Vize road; or from the Saray-Ayvacik road. The road connecting the Kavacik and Ayvacik villages and crossing over the Ayvacik Creek passes by the cave. It lies next to the Horatas Cave.
Structural Properties and formation : The vicinity of the Kücük Kalasli Cave consists of Paleozoic gneisses; basis of the Istranca Massif; overlaid by the Eocene aged Kirklareli limestones; Oligocene arenaceous-argillaceous-chalky limestones and Plio-Quarternary sand and pebble deposits. Being a passage type of fossil cave which halted its development; it is a very characteristic form of the Pliocene Age. It was developed in the east-west direction in accordance with the formation of the Paleo creek of Ayvacik; meandering over the Pliocene denudational surface. It came to surface after breaking down by the morphological rejuvenescence resulting from the Quaternary movements. It has two entrances; the second one being occluded by blocks and debris.
Research History: It was explored and mapped by MTA.
Findings: Mollusks and cave flies were seen; but no bats.
