They are highly burnished on the exterior; smoothed on the interior and bear matt dark surface colors. The dominant colors are black on the exterior and red on the interior surfaces. Some sherds; decorated with matt white paint; help explaining the relations between Anatolia and the Aegean.

Interpretation and Dating: The matt white paint decorated ware has a similar among the assemblage from Toptepe. On the other hand; parallels recovered in Anatolia; in Ikiztepe II; Alaca Höyük; Büyük Güllücek; date back to the end of the 4th Millennium BC. There are similar examples also in Arapi Magula; Thessely. It is claimed that this ware is contemporary with Karanovo IV in Balkans [Erdogu 1995]. Sherds in the same ware are collected from Tepeyani settlement in Edirne; as well. However it is impossible to comment on architecture and the settlement patterns of this culture since no excavation has been conducted.
